Clifford P. Haugen, CFA is the Chief Operating Officer of Burke, Lawton, Brewer & Burke, LLC and a Portfolio Manager with BLB&B Advisors, LLC. In addition to building and managing investment portfolios for families and non-profit organizations, Clifford specializes in helping clients plan for, implement, and execute upon complex asset conveyances including succession planning, intergenerational wealth transfers, and charitable gifting. Clifford is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), and is registered with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) as an Options Principal (Series 4), a General Securities Registered Representative (Series 7), a General Securities Principal (Series 24), a Financial and Operations Principal (Series 27), a Municipal Securities Principal (Series 53), and as a Research Analyst (Series 86 - by waiver - and Series 87). Clifford also has life, health, and disability insurance licenses.
Before joining Burke Lawton Brewer & Burke, Clifford was the President, CFO and CCO of Rutherford, Brown & Catherwood and the CFO and CCO of Walnut Asset Management. Clifford also served as a Research Analyst and as the Vice President for Operations and Planning at Walnut. Prior to working with Walnut, Clifford served as Investment Manager for Haugen Agro, LLLP and co-founded Seedling Group, LLC.
Clifford is active in a number of securities industry and regulatory committees. He currently serves as a member of FINRA's Operations Advisory Committee. Clifford is also a member of the CFA Society of Philadelphia and the CFA Institute.
Clifford is a summa cum laude graduate of The University of Pennsylvania where he obtained an M.S. in Engineering and concurrent B.S. degrees in Management (Wharton School of Business) and Engineering (School of Engineering and Applied Science). Clifford won a Thouron Scholarship to Oxford and was a Rhodes and Marshall Scholar finalist as well as a University Scholar.
Outside of work, Clifford serves on the Board of Trustees for the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf and for the Cedarcrest Charitable Foundation. He chairs the Finance Committee for the Meadowbrook School and advises a number of other family businesses and charitable organizations on strategic issues.
