John T. Lawton is Senior Vice President of Burke, Lawton, Brewer & Burke, LLC and a Portfolio Manager with BLB&B Advisors, LLC. John joined the firm in 1996. In his capacity with the firm, John's primary responsibility is portfolio management; he also oversees the firm's operations. John is a General Securities Representative (Series 7), a General Securities Principal (Series 24), and an Investment Advisor Representative (Series 65). John also has his life, health, and disability insurance licenses.

Before joining Burke, Lawton, Brewer & Burke, John worked as an independent life insurance agent representing over ten different insurance companies. Prior to this, John served four years as an officer with the United States Army in the Corps of Engineers with the majority of his tour in Germany.

John is a 1990 graduate of Bucknell University where he obtained a B.S. in Civil Engineering. While at Bucknell, John was a four-year member of the Wrestling Team, Member in the Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity and an Army ROTC Officer. John currently serves as chairperson of the Endowment Committee for the Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill. He is a member of the Philmont Strategic Advisory Council (previously the Wyncote Church Home) and currently serves on the Long Range Planning committee for Phoebe Ministries.

In his free time, John enjoys golf, playing and coaching soccer, and skiing with his family. He also enjoys helping with the Wissahickon High School wrestling team.
