Laura W. Brewer is Senior Vice
President of Burke, Lawton, Brewer & Burke, LLC and a Portfolio Manager
with BLB&B Advisors, LLC. Laura builds and manages investment portfolios
for individuals, families, and small institutions and also assists her clients
with a wide variety of financial planning matters including estate, education,
and retirement planning. Additionally, Laura writes the firm's quarterly
newsletter for managed clients (The Advisor) and the firm's monthly Client
Briefing (a macro-economic summary). Laura is a General Securities Registered
Representative (Series 7), a General Securities principal (Series 24), and
an Investment Advisor Representative (Series 65).
Prior to joining Burke Lawton Brewer & Burke, Laura was an associate attorney
in the commercial litigation department at White and Williams, LLP in
Philadelphia. Laura also served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable
Anita B. Brody of the United States District Court for the Eastern District
of Pennsylvania. Before attending law school, Laura taught English at a
high school in Kyoto, Japan, worked as an assistant trader on the
institutional trading desk at Janney Montgomery Scott, and worked on the
Chicago Mercantile Exchange for Drexel Burnham Lambert.
Laura is a graduate of Vanderbilt University School of Law (J.D. 1990),
where she received the American Jurisprudence Award for Legal Writing and was
a member of the Jessup International Moot Court team. Laura also graduated from
Smith College (B.A. 1984, Economics/Government) where she served as Chair of
the College Judicial Board and played varsity lacrosse.
In her spare time, Laura volunteers at her daughters' school where she co-chairs
the Thanksgiving food drive.
