W. Dean Karrash is Executive
Vice President of Burke, Lawton, Brewer & Burke, LLC having
joined the firm in 2004. Dean is also a Portfolio Manager with
BLB&B Advisors, LLC. Dean's primary areas of responsibility
are investment management and financial operations. Dean is a
Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a Certified Financial Planner
® (CFP®), and is registered with FINRA as a General
Securities Registered Representative (Series 7), a General Securities
Principal (Series 24), a Financial and Operations Principal (Series 27), a Municipal Securities Principal (Series
53), and an Investment Advisor Representative (series 65).
Dean has over twenty years of experience in the financial services industry. He was the President and CEO of Rutherford, Brown & Catherwood, LLC and Chief Financial Officer of Walnut Asset Management, LLC, prior to joining BLB&B. Dean also served as Vice President of Finance for Lincoln Investment Planning, Inc. and was a Senior Manager with Pricewaterhouse Coopers (formally Coopers & Lybrand), where he provided auditing and consulting services to many well-known financial services firms and mutual fund companies.
Over the years Dean has served on numerous securities industry and regulatory committees, including serving as a member and Chairman of FINRA's District No. 9 Business Conduct and Nominating Committees. He is currently a member of FINRA's Small Firm Advisory Board (SFAB) and the Financial Responsibility committee. He has also served as a member of First Clearing, LLC's Correspondent Advisory Board.
Dean is a 1996 graduate of the Temple University Executive MBA
program and a 1983 graduate of Pennsylvania State University where
he obtained a B.S. in Accounting. In his free time, he coaches
his children's soccer, basketball and baseball teams as well as
skiing and playing an occasional round of golf.
